Mable is taking steps to help protect our community from COVID-19

During this stressful time, we wanted to write and let you know that we are taking a number of important actions to ensure both your support needs can continue to be met and also to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the community. Your peace of mind and wellbeing is extremely important to us and we will be keeping in regular contact with you over the coming weeks and months while the Australian community responds to the challenges of COVID-19.

Here are some steps we’ve taken to promote support being given and received safely.

Our Independent support workers are well informed at all times

We are communicating regularly with our network of Independent support workers across the country as updated advice becomes available. We have created informative pop-ups that are displayed when they visit the Mable platform and we are also sending text messages and emails to ensure they are fully informed as to the latest information and best practice.

We are also directing members of the Mable community to a dedicated page on the Mable website (https://mable.com.au/covid-19/) which includes important information and preventative recommendations from World Health Organisation, current state and federal government links and training videos, as well as other infection prevention information and hand washing guidelines.

COVID-19 mandatory training for all support workers

From this week, we are requiring all Mable Independent Support Workers to complete the Australian Government COVID-19 Infection Control training module. Once they complete it, they will receive a certificate which they must submit to Mable. If they do not complete the training within a specified period, they will not be able to provide support services to Mable clients.

As a client, you also play a role by encouraging your support worker to complete this training promptly.

Would you like to do this training too?

You are most welcome to take advantage of this opportunity to receive training in COVID-19 infection control. It’s free, video based and only takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete. The training covers important protective measures we all should be practicing in our daily lives.

Home Support Screening Tools and Guidelines

In addition to communication and infection control training we have recommended new COVID-19 home support screening tools and guidelines for the protection of the community. This gives both Independent support workers and their clients some recommended steps to take in preparing for support sessions and providing support.

Please visit the guidelines page here.

Launch of Mable Equip

We know that it has been difficult to purchase personal protective items like hand sanitiser and gloves. So we launched Mable Equip – an online shopping portal where you can purchase hand sanitiser, disinfectants and other protective equipment as it becomes available. This is only for our Mable community and helps you access products at cost so you can stay protected during COVID-19.

Let’s work together to protect the community

Mable enables you to have a direct relationship with support workers you choose and trust. COVID-19 is undoubtedly a challenge, however, if we all work together to follow government guidelines and infection control measures, we can reduce the risks to everyone. We would like to encourage you to stay positive and as much as possible continue to focus on things that feel familiar and comfortable.
