Our client Shai was involved in an interview by ABC’s PM program.
For months, Shai and his friends have been meeting at least once a week in a community hall in the Sydney suburb of Bondi and practicing for their broadcast debut. They’ve all got various disabilities that have made them think twice about whether they want to take part in a radio broadcast. But each of them has decided to battle through their nerves and get behind the microphone. The reason: they believe voices like theirs are under-represented in society.
During the interview, Shai speaks about his experience in 2004 when he was accepted to play baseball for Arncliffe Scots Baseball Club after being refused by three other clubs.
SHAI DE VLETTER SONT: “I think maybe in the world, in the future, maybe disability will be heard more”
