Scammers have claimed to be from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and have attempted to trick participants over the phone.
These scammers have called people with a disability, demanding they hand over their bank details and have threatened them if they do not cooperate.
The NDIA will never ask for your personal details unless they explain the purpose of asking for it and seeking for your consent to proceed. If they require additional information or to update their records, they will ask that you either:
- Visit the nearest NDIA office
- Contact the 1800 800 110 number
If you’re unsure, here’s what the NDIA recommend you do:
- Ask the NDIA representative for their name and number and call the agency back via their official line (1800 800 110).
- Confirm the call by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org, calling your local NDIA contact, or call 1800 800 110.
